Outside of the JLR world, DJ enjoys camping out in the bush completely unfazed by spiders or snakes and is also a keen foodie who loves eating out and discovering new places.
DJ spent over 11 years working directly with Land Rover, achieving Master Technician status before moving into the independent JLR sector. In 2018, Autologic welcomed DJ into the technical support team, where he has since built a strong reputation for his ability to support workshops, diagnosing some of the most luxurious and often unreliable vehicles on the road.
The Case: 2015 Land Rover L494 Climate Control Inoperative
A workshop contacted our technical support team regarding a 2015 Land Rover L494 with non-functioning climate controls.
After reviewing the Quick Test report, DJ quickly identified a lack of communication with the Front Control Interface Module (FCIM).
During the support call, DJ guided the technician through checking the power supply to the module, where it was discovered that there was no 12-volt supply present. Further investigation revealed a blown fuse, which supplied power to the front touchscreen, an aftermarket unit.
Once the touchscreen was removed, the root cause became clear:
The wiring loom behind the screen had been pinched during installation, causing the fuse to blow. This, in turn, resulted in loss of communication to the climate control module.
After repairing the loom and addressing the fuse issue, communication was restored, and the climate control system functioned correctly.
