Richard Fletcher is one of the driving forces behind our technical support team, bringing decades of hands-on diagnostic expertise to workshops across Australia and New Zealand. Whether he’s solving a complex fault code or running one of his famous marathons, Richard delivers gold-medal standards in everything he does.
Richard began his Opus IVS journey back in 2013, joining the UK Head Office (then Autologic) and quickly becoming a trusted go-to expert for technicians worldwide. With deep VAG knowledge and real workshop experience, he built a reputation for turning even the trickiest diagnostic situations into straightforward solutions.
In 2018, Richard made the bold move to Australia with his family, taking on the role of Technical Support Manager. Since then, he has led our Australian technical operations, helping workshops resolve live vehicle issues, guiding technicians through complex procedures, and ensuring customers get the absolute best support in the industry.
A Recent Case: When Experience Beats Downtime
One of Richard’s recent cases perfectly shows the value he brings.
A workshop attempted to update a Golf using their OEM dealer tool but the tool itself needed updating first. As many technicians know, that process can take time, patience, and experience.
Rather than leave the customer stuck, Richard jumped into action.
Using the CarDAQ-Pro, he logged directly into the vehicle, carried out the required update after the Mechatronic unit replacement, and then helped the workshop update their OEM tool properly.
After seeing the time and effort involved, the customer realised that sometimes it’s simply more efficient and cost-effective to let the experts handle it.
